Alun James

Alun is a sports and sponsorship expert providing strategic counsel, problem solving and issues and crisis management to clients. He will chair the communications group of the Physical Activity Network of the Government’s new Responsibility Deal.

He set up Four Sports, Arts & Sponsorship (SAS) in 2005.  It has been consistently recognised by the industry with the work for Celtic Manor Ryder Cup being short-listed for two awards at the 2011 Sports Industry Awards. The division broke through the £1 million barrier in annual fees in its third full year of existence.

Clients include: Lloyds TSB/London 2012 sponsorship; Celtic Manor Resort/Ryder Cup 2010; and Greene King; and RFU. 

At Hill & Knowlton, Alun headed up the 25-strong Sports Marketing & Sponsorship practice, leading the team that helped the London 2012 bid. Before that, he was Head of Marketing Communications, at the International Tennis Federation.

Alun read Modern History at The Queen’s College, Oxford and has an MBA in Marketing and a MRS Diploma from Cass Business School. He is an active sportsman (rugby, golf, skiing and cricket) and keen climber, traveller and wildlife photographer.
