The true gift of giving: the Scottish Government Christmas organ donation

Four Scotland launched the Scottish Government Christmas organ donation initiative recently, which sees shoppers offered a free present wrapping service in the hope they’ll return the festive goodwill by taking two minutes out of their day to sign up to the NHS Organ Donation Register.

As part of the launch, sisters Erin, 8 and Kara, 10, put their artistic skills to good work recently, creating a specially designed festive gift wrap in the hope that their mother, Tricia Sibbald, 36, receives a kidney transplant next year. Tricia, who is on dialysis three times a week, has been on the waiting list for a donor kidney since 2011.

Extensive coverage was achieved, with highlights including several minutes on primetime STV News, whereby Erin and Kara were primed to give anchor man John MacKay a run for his money.
