9th October was National Poetry Day and Four used the occasion to launch a poetry exchange programme for its client HSBC at the bank’s head quarters in Canary Wharf.
As the world’s local bank HSBC’s cultural sponsorship programme is based around the theme of Cultural Exchange, promoting international understanding through culture.
The exchange, run with London-based poetry charity Poet in the City, will see a promising poet from Kazakhstan, Akerke Mussabekova, spend four months in Canada, learning about a new culture and writing new poetry.
The launch event was a poetry breakfast where renowned poet Pascale Petit who has spent time in Kazakhstan, read poems written during her time there, including Kukai written about the time she held a hunting golden eagle on her wrist in the mountains outside Almaty.
The event was attended by Poet in the City members, HSBC staff and invited guests and the media.
