On Tuesday 8 February, the Stories of the World: London team celebrated with young people who have accumulated 50 hours of volunteering, receiving a V50 award, at a special event at the Museum of London. Ruth Mackenzie, Director of the Cultural Olympiad, delivered the key note speech and the awards were given out by celebrity presenter Miquita Oliver.
Although the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games doesn’t kick off until next year, the Cultural Olympiad surrounding the games is already well underway. Four Arts provides communications support for the Stories of the World: London Cultural Olympiad project, organised by the London Museums Hub, a partnership of 23 non-national London museums.
The project encourages young people to engage with museums through volunteering and internships, helping them to gain useful skills as well as assisting in the development of the museum and its collections. Four has achieved widespread coverage including this video profile of the project on BBC London, posted on the 8 February.
