Four launches Le Tour – One Day Ahead

Four’s Sports, Arts & Sponsorship team has launched Le Tour- One Day Ahead, Geoff Thomas’ latest cycling challenge in aid of Cure Leukaemia.

Former England, Crystal Palace and Wolves footballer Geoff was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2003 and given only three months to live. Just months after successfully completing gruelling chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, Geoff decided to cycle the entire Tour de France route a few days ahead of the peloton.

Next year marks ten years since Geoff accomplished this incredible challenge and in order to raise £1 million for Cure Leukaemia, and to mark the milestone, Geoff will be riding Le Tour again. This time, just one day ahead of the peloton and with a team of 20 fellow intrepid cyclists.

Four launched the challenge on Thursday morning with a media briefing at Four’s offices, supported by a stakeholder launch in Birmingham that evening. The team is currently planning book, film and documentary opportunities as well as supporting with PR and sponsorship advice.

To generate support and provide an opportunity for the public to engage and challenge themselves to fundraise for Cure Leukaemia, Geoff will also be leading a four-day, 500 kilometre cycling challenge: London 2 Paris: Inspiring the Revolution, which Four is helping to promote.

Entries for both events are now open and a number of Geoff’s friends and supporters from the sports community are already committed to participate.
