11th May 2006: Matt Wood, former founder of Joe Public Relations and more recently a 'fingers in lots of pies' consultant, has joined Four Communications as MD of consumer PR. He takes on a team of eight and £700k worth of business with a brief to accelerate growth and drive the company's integrated consumer communications offering. He will work in tandem with Four's marketing divisions, such as design, media buying and sports marketing & sponsorship, in order to deliver this brief.
The current consumer PR portfolio at Four, built by company co-founders Tim Lewis and Einir Williams, and industry veteran Steve Gebbett, includes Sony PlayStation, bmi, Club Med, Noddy and Barclaycard. Five new consultants will be taken on over the next few months to join the existing team.
Matt said: 'I've spent the past year and a half dabbling in a number of opportunities and getting my thoughts together, and I now believe I've found the right opportunity. Four is probably the most exciting independent full service communications company around at the moment, and it has all the right services in place to enable me to take consumer PR where it must go to be competitive and effective and that's about offering true integrated communications.'
Nan Williams, CEO and co-founder of Four, said: 'Matt is a real coup for us and just what we need to build our consumer practice to the next stage. With renewed investment in the consumer field, we are well placed to compete against the new boutique agencies and the big international groups alike. Our whole business has grown so fast because it is based on getting in the very best senior talent who then dedicate themselves 100% to our clients. Matt continues that tradition.'
