Four Communications appointed to handle Costa Rica Tourism Board’s UK PR, sales and marketing

30 November 2015, London: Four Communications has been appointed to handle UK PR, sales and marketing for the Costa Rica Tourism Board (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo) following a competitive pan-European pitch process.

Contracted by Global Communication Experts in Germany, which is the lead agency for Europe, Four Communications commences work in December 2015, with the key focus being on increasing visitor numbers into the country and raising awareness of the destination’s offerings. It is an important time in the country’s development as a tourist destination, with TUI launching direct charter flights from the UK this month, and British Airways introducing the first direct scheduled flights from the UK in May 2016.

Alejandro Castro, Marketing Director at ICT said: “As we continue to raise the profile of Costa Rica in the UK and Europe, particularly with the launch of two new direct flights, it was important for us to choose an agency that could provide an integrated pan-European marketing campaign. As GCE’s UK partner agency, Four Communications has superb experience of tourist board PR and marketing, excellent media and trade connections and brilliant ideas that we believe will increase visitor numbers from the UK. We look forward to working with our new European team to put Costa Rica on the map.”

The Four Communications Costa Rica Tourism Board account will be headed up by associate director Angela Maini on the PR side and Rob Wilson, head of sales and marketing for travel and tourism, on the sales and marketing side and joins other prestigious travel accounts held by Four Communications. Rob Wilson said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Costa Rica Tourism Board at such an exciting time; it really is the destination of the moment. In line with our European partners, we will be delivering traditional and digital campaigns to support the destination’s marketing strategy, working with media and trade to raise awareness of the country’s USPs and accessibility to ultimately drive visitors.”
