Plans for the announcement of the Man Booker International Prize list of finalists at the University of Cape Town has been underway for over a year. It culminated this week in a press conference and series of events in the city.
The media in South Africa and all across the globe were abuzz with the truly international nature of the list, with the four Africans - Marlene van Niekerk, Alain Mabanckou, Ibrahim al-Koni and Mia Couto – particularly feted on their home continent.
By sheer serendipity, this week was also the week that another Four Colman Getty client, Pan Macmillan, announced the publication of the sequel to Nelson's Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom in 2016, 20 years after the first book. As well as causing a stir in South Africa, the story was covered across the broadsheets and on BBC Radio 4 Today Programme.
