London, 17 January 2011: Independent integrated communications agency, Four Communications plc, has acquired leading travel & tourism PR and representation agency, bgb, in a cash and equity deal. bgb will join Four Communications’ public relations, public affairs, digital services, sponsorship, media and marketing practices under the umbrella of the Four Communications Group plc and will move into the agency’s Leicester Square HQ.
The newly named practice, Four bgb, will be the market leader in travel and tourism with a combined annual fee income in excess of £2.5 million. It will boast an enviable client list including Visit Wales, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons and Raymond Blanc, the Barbados Tourism Authority, Etihad Airways, Hand Picked Hotels, The Passenger Shipping Association, Club Med and Wyndham Hotels. Four bgb will sit alongside the agency’s other specialist teams in property, financial services, public sector, kids & family, entertainment, sport and the arts.
Four Communications Group chief executive Nan Williams said:
“Since we launched Four at the end of 2001 with just seven people, we have seen phenomenal organic growth in our business. In 2010, we decided to supplement this achievement with a new acquisition strategy which would see successful, complementary independent businesses become part of the Four family. We are immensely proud to have acquired bgb which is the ‘jewel in the crown’ in its field and are keen to consider further acquisition partners in 2011.”
Debbie Hindle, bgb managing director adds:
“Together with Four, we will be able to offer both staff and clients a much broader, deeper service. As part of an integrated, but still independent group, we can now offer critical new services like digital, public affairs, design and media buying, all under one roof. But, most importantly the team at Four has a philosophy and approach that really matches the bgb culture and spirit. We are hugely excited about the prospect of what we will achieve together in the future."
bgb is recognised in the communications industry as the leading name in travel PR and representation. Now in its twentieth year, the agency is led by MD Debbie Hindle and Deputy MD Jo Johnson, both of whom will join the Four Communications plc board.
Four Communications is also celebrating an anniversary this year as it enters its 10th year in business. Formed at the end of 2001 by its four founding partners – CEO Nan Williams, international MD Ray Eglington, MD Einir Williams and consumer and green guru Tim Lewis, the agency has grown from seven to a hundred people in this time, making it one of the leading independents in the UK. Built on an integrated model from the outset, Four offers public relations, public affairs, marketing, design, digital services, sponsorship and media planning & buying.
Four Communications also has offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from which it operates right across the Gulf. Working with Four’s Middle East boss, Ray Eglington, Four bgb will be developing a specialist travel and tourism brand in the region in 2011.
Four bgb is also part of an international network - Pangaea - with members throughout the world. Four bgb will also continue to develop its innovative Travel Consultant Network of independent senior travel practitioners.
