40 years of the Transport Act

On 6 November Four Communications organised a reception in the House of Commons to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Transport Act.  British Waterways and Four were keen to celebrate the political landmark that signaled the renaissance of the UK's waterways.

The event was well attended, with 25 MPs, and a further 40 Peers, councillors, London Assembly members and waterway stakeholders.  There were speeches by Huw Irranca-Davies, the minister responsible for the waterways, John Edmonds of the Inland Waterways Advisory Council and Tony Hales, BW's Chairman.
