World leaders confront health financing challenge
Bernard Kouchner will host the third meeting of the Taskforce today in Paris on 29 May, as the Taskforce prepares a series of recommendations for the G8 summit in July.
This third meeting of the Taskforce will build on foundations laid in the Doha and London discussions of December 2008 and March 2009 respectively, and the Taskforce will study the reports of two Working Groups focusing on health financing mechanisms.
The reports are expected to recommend that extra health funding should be tied closely to outcomes, should clearly improve the relevant national health system, be large enough to deliver real improvement, and aim to reach the entire population. |
