Case Study
Essex County Council

Client
Essex County Council is the local authority for Essex County. As a local authority information hub, the council’s website aims to provide community information and pages aimed at promoting Essex, both at home and abroad. It also seeks to provide information on council activity, local businesses, health and caring services, and regional travel.

Objective
Following the review of the ECC website, Four was engaged to re-design the existing look and feel. As a government portal, it was imperative that the design accommodated all necessary accessibility requirements.

Solution
Combining the expertise of both the marketing and digital teams, Four re-designed the site using the Essex Works re-branding, a concept developed by Four’s Marketing department to communicate quality of life, and the council’s image as accountable, efficient, proactive and responsive, providing more value for money for the community.

Result
Four’s re-design of the website was quickly adopted, elements of which were even used by some of the Council’s partnership organisations for their own on-line communications.
The success of this project lead to further development of the Essex Works brand by creating a digital animation to promote the Essex Waste campaign promoting recycling and reduction of waste across the county. This involved design and storyboarding for ‘The journey of waste’ before final build of the Flash animation
