The Women of the Year Lunch is the longest running annual celebration of women in the UK. This year saw the 59th Lunch take place at the Intercontinental Park Lane London on Monday 14 October. Our Campaigning & Digital teams have worked with the Women of the Year, to raise the profile of the Lunch & Awards, since 2011.Our role includes generating local and regional coverage for the 450 Lunch attendees from across the UK, and national media for the winners of the special awards. We liaise with the Awards’ sponsors - Barclays, Sacla’, ITV’s Lorraine and Good Housekeeping magazine – to ensure that their branding is included on all media materials. For the 2013 Lunch and Awards, we achieved a terrific spread of high profile print, online and broadcast coverage for Women of the Year award winners and lunch attendees. Highlights include local coverage across the UK - from Gloucestershire and Nottingham to Hastings and St Albans. Interviews with Women of the Year winners’ Andrea Coleman in The Independent on Sunday and BBC Radio 4’s Midweek; Waris Dirie in The Guardian’s G2 and on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’ s Hour and a terrific feature on the Lunch & Awards 2013 in the ‘Wonder Women blog” on the Daily Telegraph online. We manage all PR aspects of the event on the day: red carpet arrivals, media accreditation for the drinks reception and awards, and a winners’ photo-shoot. We are also responsible for Women of the Year’s digital and social platforms, keeping the website up-to-date and active by copywriting and posting regular items, and managing the Facebook and Twitter accounts – including live-tweeting the red carpet arrivals and awards presentations. Over the past six months, we have increased the number of monthly active users on Facebook by 35% and the number of Twitter followers by over 40%.
