This year’s special 60th Women of the Year Lunch & Awards took place at the InterContinental London Park Lane. For this year's celebration, more than 450 women from all walks of life were invited to attend the Women of the Year Lunch & Awards, each handpicked for their achievements and contribution to society.
Women of the Year has recognised, celebrated and inspired women of all backgrounds since 1955 and continues to shine a light on extraordinary women through an annual lunch, lecture and on-going foundation work. The 2014 Women of the Year Award winners were selected for their perseverance and courage in the face of some of the most serious issues facing women today.
On the day, there were great national online news and picture coverage including Daily Mirror, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Huffington Post and two articles on Mail Online in Showbiz and Femail. There was also a piece in the London Evening Standard.
An excellent range of print, online and broadcast coverage appeared in the following days after the Lunch. The Barclays’ Women of the Year award winner Diana Nammi was interviewed on BBC Radio 4 Midweek and BBC World Service’s Weekend. The Good Housekeeping’s Outstanding Young Campaigner of the Year award winner, Fahma Mohamed featured in the i’s ‘page 3 profile’ slot and was one of the i100’s top trending article online and lunch attendee Molly Thompson-Smith was interviewed in the Financial Times for ‘At Home’ .
