In a land far, far away – well Elstree to be exact, bloggers, vloggers, instagrammers and PRs gathered for the second instalment of Blogstock, with the Four bgb team of Sara Whines, Julie Giraud, Arthur Duncan and Rachael Lindsay making up a healthy proportion of the PR people in attendance.
The three day networking festival from 4 – 6 September in Aldenham Country Park, Elstree saw a series of talks from influential bloggers involved in travel, lifestyle, fashion, family and beauty. Despite some questionable temperature levels for early September, and a suspect leaking tent, the Four bgb team got stuck in learning all about how to supercharge their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts, as well as a spot of creative writing.
An afternoon talk on the Friday was from Monica Stott (The Travel Hack) who offered advice to bloggers on how to increase their income from blogging which was followed by an evening of tasty food and tempered revelry in anticipation of the next day.
After a cold night’s sleep raindrop-dodging, the Four bgb team emerged bright and early for the main day on Saturday and straight into a talk on responsible tourism from the boisterous Bill Oddie and Mark Avery who gave advice on ways we can all help with conservation, starting at home in the garden. More talks on how to supercharge your Instagram account from Julie Falconer (A Lady in London) and boosting creativity in your writing from mummy blogger Penny Alexander (A Residence Blog & Parent Shaped) allowed the team to well and truly delve into the world of blogs and bloggers.
There was even time for some animal encounters, where the team met a variety of exotic animals from sugar gliders to pythons before the lively final debate of the day, which centred on the future of blogging and what next. The main thread of the discussion focused on paid blogging and there was a strong emphasis placed on relationship building between bloggers, PRs and clients to create a more professional environment in which all parties benefit.
