Four Colman Getty announces finalists of European architecture prize

During February Four Colman Getty worked with the European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation on a two-week whistle-stop project to organise a press conference to announce the finalists of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, the Mies van der Rohe Award.

Speakers, some of whom travelled from Europe to London for the event on Wednesday, included Alessandro Senesi, Deputy Head of Creative Europe at the European Commission, Giovanna Carnevali, Director of Mies Van der Rohe Foundation, and jury member and RIBA Head of Awards, Tony Chapman.

The shortlist they unveiled includes one London building, the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre at the London School of Economics, designed by Irish architects O’Donnell + Tuomey, as well as museums in Germany and Denmark, a winery in Italy and a concert hall in Poland.

The event was a great success and covered by outlets including Architect’s Journal, Blueprint, Wallpaper*, Dezeen and Icon. The winner will be announced in Barcelona on 8 May.
